Sumo Group is celebrating a double award win at last night’s Game Republic Awards.
The awards, a special one-year-only event celebrating 20 years of Game Republic, saw Sumo Group win the Inclusivity Award, while Red Kite Games Office Manager Anne Van Der Merwe scooped the Studio Hero Award, respectively.
In total, Sumo Group and its studios received 11 nominations including the Community Player Award, and Sustainability Award – with co-founder Carl Cavers and Director of Business Development Nina Cliff both nominated for the Games Legend Award.
Sumo Digital was nominated for the Best Large Studio Award while Dr Jacob Habgood, Sumo Digital’s Director of Education Partnerships, received a nomination for the Inspiring Course Leader Award.
Red Kite Games was also nominated for an additional three awards. Studio Director & founder Simon Iwaniszak was a finalist in the Best Company Boss Award category, Programmer David Smith was nominated for the Studio Hero Award, and the studio itself was a finalist in the Best Mid-Sized Studio Award category.
