Sumo Group to support SpecialEffect’s 2022 Twin Town Challenge

Sumo Group will be hitting the road next month for the SpecialEffect Twin Town challenge, travelling from Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire to Le Touquet in Northern France to raise money for this incredible charity.

Each team is challenged to buy and decorate a pre-loved car and then make the almost 350-kilometre journey. Along the way, teams take on challenges and circuit laps to race to the finish line.

This year’s team is made up of Producer Sarah Whittaker, Recruitment Sourcing Specialist Polly Ord, Business Development Manager David Dino and Business Operations Director Daniel Secker. The Sumo Group car for 2022 will have an Elvis Presley theme in tribute to our much-loved colleague, Ian Richardson.

Also raising money for SpecialEffect as part of Sumo Group’s team, Art Director David Blewett will be leading a team of cyclists from Sumo Leamington on a journey from SpecialEffect HQ in Witney to the Channel Tunnel via London. David will be joined on this 175 mile journey by Senior Artists Jason Baggett and Keith Burden with support from Producer Andrew Taylor. Once in France, David will then – supported by Sumo Sheffield VFX Artist Lee Taylor - begin a 52 mile ultramarathon from Calais to Le Touquet to meet the team.

SpecialEffect is one of Sumo Group’s charity partners and puts fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games and communicate using technology.

Nick Streeter, Fundraising Lead at SpecialEffect said: “Sumo has embraced the Twin Town and SpecialEffect spirit since 2016 and we can’t wait to welcome the teams from the Group, including Red Kite, Atomhawk and Sumo Digital as we head to France from Blenheim Palace for the final edition!

“A huge thanks to all the Sumo Group teams for the fun, passion and energy they bring, and all they do for SpecialEffect.”

The Twin Town Challenge 2022 will take place from 29th April – 2nd May.
