Sumo Group reflects on H1 2022 - game launches and announcements

As we head into the second half of 2022, Sumo Group reflects on the achievements of its people and bringing new games to market.

Sumo Digital studios continue to work on a number of exciting projects. Sumo Leamington announced its partnership with Sumo Group’s publishing division, Secret Mode, on a new IP with more details due to be released soon. Sumo Warrington shared it’s been working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in close collaboration with Rocksteady Studios. Whilst Red Kite Games confirmed its partnership with Media Tonic to bring Fall Guys to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the Epic Games Store. Leamington-based Lab42 launched Crusader Kings III to critical and user acclaim including The Sixth Axis and Push Square. The studio also delivered four levels for No Brakes Games’ puzzling platformer, Human Fall Flat – including Forest, Red Rock and Lumber, as well as a skins drop for the game.

Bristol-based Auroch Digital – who joined the Sumo Group family in September 2021 – started the year with the announcement of Brewmaster: The Beer Brewing Simulator with Fireshine Games, which is due to launch on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch in 2022, and is available to Wishlist on Steam now.

Since then, the studio has been incredibly busy, and has released MegaQuarium – Freshwater Frenzy DLC in March this year and a free update for its title, Mars Horizons. Auroch Digital has also released Ogre on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC. This turn-based strategy game, which requires tactical decision-making and strategic thinking will see players engage in futuristic warfare with hovercrafts, heavy tanks and giant cybernetic war machines.

Finally, Auroch Digital is delighted to announce that it’s working in partnership with Focus Home Interactive to bring Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun to audiences in 2023.

Our publishing division, Secret Mode, has had a bumper year to date, announcing five games and launching two. First, the team brought the weird and wonderful world of Wobbledogs to Steam in partnership with developer Animal Uprising. This relaxed sandbox experience for players of all ages is a 3D pet simulation that allows players to manage their own kennel of mutating dogs.

The publisher has also collaborated with Hugecalf Studios to bring Turbo Golf Racing to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Game Pass in August 2022.

Secret Mode also launched single-player puzzle game, Eternal Threads, on PC, with further plans to launch the game on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later in the year. This story-driven game of time manipulation, choice and consequence has seen both players and critics revelling in the storytelling and gameplay.

Finally, Secret Mode confirmed its partnership with Moon Lagoon to publish Loddlenaut. This cosy creature-raising, planet-saving survival game is due to land on PC and Mac in 2023.
