Sumo Group studios are getting together today, Friday 7th October 2022, to celebrate One Special Day and raise vital funds for SpecialEffect, one of the Group’s partner charities.
For one very special day every year since 2015, the global games industry has joined together to raise vital funds for us and proudly shown the world how games can change lives for the better with SpecialEffect’s One Special Day.
Teams from across the Group’s 16 businesses have again taken on the task of developing a One Button Game for the #OneButtonGameJam – a challenge set by Business Development Manager David Dino where teams must devise a game which only requires a single input to play. This theme is inspired by the work done by SpecialEffect, which enables those with physical disabilities to play games through innovative technology.
The games will be played through and streamed from 12pm on Friday on Twitch with David being joined by Secret Mode Content Producer Harriet Morris where they will also share insights into their development.
A quiz is being hosted for internal teams across Sumo Group with fantastic prizes on offer, including a 12-month Switch online subscription, SpecialEffect FIFA Jersey and an Auroch Digital Brewmaster pack.
Elsewhere in the Group, Secret Mode is offering a discount on its title, Zool: Redimensioned, which will be active until the 10th of October. Sumo Leamington and Lab42 took part in One Special Week – a week-long series of events where developers in the Leamington are brought together for a series of activities from quizzes to karaoke.
SpecialEffect is just one of the charities Sumo Group is proud to support, with GamesAid and Solving Kids’ Cancer also an incredible cause supported by the Group. Through organised events, individual activity and awareness raising, we’re able to play our part in making a difference.
